Ephesians 6:6 (NKJV) …not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
The way other people respond must never be the compass by which you guide your life.
For example, if our dentists use the way we respond to their treatment as their guideline, most of us would have a mouth full of rotten teeth.
When we were children, if our parents had used the way we responded to their instructions as their guideline for whether or not to enforce their rules we’d probably all be in jail (or dead) right now.
I am not advocating rudeness and insensitivity, but I am advocating, in as nice a way as possible, doing what is right and most pleasing to God.
You only have one Lord—Jesus Christ, what he thinks matters, matters a lot, but outside of him, don’t let other people’s response to your decisions and deeds be the determining factor as to whether or not you do something.
- The ONE THING for today: The question today is not, “How will this affect others?” The question is, “How will this affect my relationship with Jesus Christ?” Get that right and everything else will take care of itself.
