What makes an angel an angel is that they obey God; the moment they stop obeying God they become a demon.
The same is true for Christians.
What makes a Christian a Christian is that they obey God; “Christians” who do not obey God are in reality sinners who are only fooling themselves.
In our fallen state we will not be as good at obeying God as angels are—that’s where grace comes in.
But don’t fool yourself, grace is given to empower you to obey, not as a “get out of jail free” card that allows you to do what you want and still pass “Go” and collect your 200.00. (Hope you know the game of Monopoly.)
God will not walk with you one step past your last step of intentional disobedience. Like the prodigal son’s father he watches and waits to extend mercy and restoration, but if you know you are disobeying God, I don’t care how churchy you are you are on your own; God’s not with you.
- The ONE THING for today: Repentance is not an event; it’s a lifestyle of constantly making adjustments in order to keep walking with God.
11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.
