The one thing you must do today is experience joy.
Working hard is good in its place but there must come a time that you intentionally stop working and enjoy yourself.
Enjoyment is the state of inserting joy into your life (en-joy) and is a part of God’s plan for your life. Without it your soul shrivels and grows sick.
And remember, you must be intentional about this. There is probably no one out there (except maybe a family member or two) that cares if you experience joy. Oh for a price they will sell you their version of fun but most of these hawkers of happiness are just selling you soul food full of sugary empty calories.
Consider intentional efforts to experience joy as akin to taking “soul vitamins” // they help replenish what all the labor and trials of life leached out of your life.
- The ONE THING for today: Today is Saturday, hopefully a day where you are not required to work—don’t waste it! Enjoy yourself today; that is how God intended it.
15 Remember that you were once slaves in Egypt, but the Lord your God brought you out with his strong hand and powerful arm. That is why the Lord your God has commanded you to rest on the Sabbath day.
Deuteronomy 5:15 (NLT)
