A couple days ago Sonja and I were pulling out from one of my favorite places to stop when traveling—QT (yeah!). It just so happened that the particular one we had stopped at also serviced eighteen-wheelers. So as we were moving toward the exit to get back on the road a huge eighteen-wheeler was also jockeying for the same spot.
Sonja say, “David if you are playing a game of chicken with that truck it’s time for you to cluck.” I got a big kick out of that!
And by the way she was right—that was a battle I was not going to win (in my little scooter pooter Hyndai).
It’s OK to “cluck” sometimes. You don’t have to win every battle and argument. You don’t have your way every time and you don’t always have to have the last word (unless its “cluck”).
Sometimes the wisest thing to do is throw in the towel and live to fight another day.
Or in the words of Kenny Rogers, “You gotta know when to hold ‘em and you gotta know when to fold ‘em.” 🙂
- The ONE THING for today: Sometimes the best thing you can do is “cluck.”
17 Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “Thus says the Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘If you surely surrender to the king of Babylon’s princes, then your soul shall live; this city shall not be burned with fire, and you and your house shall live.
