Back in the ‘80s on two different occasions I organized trips for men to volunteer their time and skills toward building a church on an island off the coast of Maine. The name of the island is Swan’s Island.
It was on one of those trips that I received my first taste of New England wit and wisdom. It was in the evening after a long hard (but rewarding) day of work and I was leaning on a porch rail shoulder to shoulder with one of the men from the church congregation that we were assisting.
I asked him, “Have you lived all your life on Swan’s Island.” I’ve never forgotten his response. He replied, “Not yet.”
I still chuckle whenever I think about that short, but golden answer.
Perhaps you need that answer yourself.
I want to remind you that it is not over till it’s over.
If you are reading this it means you’re still alive, that means that there’s still hope, potential and possibilities.
Press on, keep the faith, expect a miracle if need be, if you can’t believe in yourself—believe in God.
- The ONE THING for today: It ain’t over yet!
8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (NKJV)
