Give God a break

It comes as no surprise to me that people who do not believe there is a god also do not believe in the supernatural (miracles).  Those poor people have to explain everything; I feel sorry for them.

However, what amazes me is the people who do believe in God and yet want to put him in a box and tell him what he can and cannot do, what he can and cannot think, or what he can or cannot communicate.

Give God a break!

The way many people treat God would be like me going into my wife’s kitchen on Monday afternoon when she is preparing her usual scrumptious Monday night family meal and start telling her how to cook. I don’t know anything about cooking; my wife doesn’t even trust me with boiling water unless she’s in the house.  The best thing I can do is get out of the way and let the master chef of the house do her thing–the way she wants to do.  I may not agree with how she does things and I may not like how she does things, but time and experience has taught me over and over that the proof is in the pudding and when it comes to my wife’s cooking, she knows how to prepare “pudding”.

God is no different.  He has opinions, desires, dislikes, and things he favors.  He keeps his own counsel, works by his own recipes, and keeps to his own time-table. You and I may not always like how he does things, we may would have done it differently, but…

Give God a break; let God be God and let him do his work the way he thinks best.

  • The ONE THING for today: If God is not doing things the way you would or the way you think he should, give him a break.  Trust him enough to know that he loves you and is doing what is in your best interest (along with everyone else’s).

John 17:24 (NKJV)

24 Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
