- John 12:25 (NKJV) …lest darkness overtake you
December can be a dark month in more ways than one. The short days that come with this time of the year can wear on you after awhile. But there are deeper issues…
December, with all its extra-curricular activities, can be a tipping point for an already complicated and stressful life. Darkness threatens to overtake you…
Furthermore, the holidays have a way of accentuating your losses as you look at empty places around the table and miss hugs and voices from yesteryear. Darkness threatens to overtake you…
December also brings the end of yet another year and your mortality and the shortness of your life haunts your quiet moments; darkness threatens to overtake you…
I could go on, but I think you get the picture.
What are we to do? None of us are exempt from this malady.
Jesus’ answer was: “Walk with me.”
This Christmas season, more than ever before, remember the reason for the season; walk with Jesus through this month.
Don’t look at the darkness; look to Him.
Don’t listen to all the noise and confusion; listen for His still, quiet, and assuring voice.
There is peace and light in His presence…and in His presence, the darkness has to flee.
The ONE THING for today: Do all you do with Jesus and for Jesus…and before you know it the winter will be past and the night will be over and the sun will rise again.
I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.
John 12:46 (NKJV)
