- 2 Timothy 4:7 (NKJV) I have fought the good fight…
It has been aptly said that life is war.
You know this; you may be keenly aware of it right now for you find yourself smack-dab in the middle of a major battle.
Maybe, it’s a battle for your sanity, your peace of mind, your marriage or some other important relationship. I know of some that faithfully read this blog who are fighting for their very life.
Bottom line, the fact that Paul highlighted that life (even for an apostle) is a fight is not news to us.
But what you may have forgotten in the heat of your battle(s) is that every fight is not your fight. You’re not responsible for the world; you can’t do but so much. Even the apostle Paul declared, I have fought “the” good fight (not I have fought a dozen good fights).
I also want to remind you that you also have a faithful God that fights for you.
Recently my dear Proverbs 31 wife gave me this verse: “The Lord does not need weapons to rescue His people. It is His battle, not ours.” (1 Samuel 17:47).
This is just one of many verses that I could include to remind you that God is your defender.
Sure, life is war; you may have a big fight on your hands at this very moment. But in the end, the reason you can have hope—hope to press on and not give up is that God is fighting for you.
The ONE THING for today: Do all you can—fight the good fight, but trust God through it all to bring about the ultimately victory.
You’re never go wrong doing that.
If you have an extra moment, I included the following link to a song that has blessed me so many times; perhaps it will bless you today as well. To view it, go to this link.
