- Proverbs 18:1-2 (NKJV) A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; he rages against all wise judgment.
- 2 A fool has no delight in understanding, but in expressing his own heart.
Here’s an odd ONE THING: Ask someone’s opinion about something specific today.
Probably the last thing you feel you need is one more opinion, everybody has one and most have no problem in pressing them upon you.
However, it is important to know that you will never maximize your potential in life if you do not seek and receive outside help. This is the reason we send our children to school, we understand instinctively that if a child is to have a chance in life they must receive a lot of outside help from people who are trained to give it.
So what has changed about that?
It is easy to walk away from school and stop being a scholar. But remember, if you want a lifetime of growth and productivity it is going to require a lifetime of seeking out wise counsel.
Now take a moment before heading out for the day to look at the ONE THING again. Notice I suggested you ask someone’s opinion about “something specific” today.
I’m not suggesting you turn into a garbage collector by having anyone and everyone dump their often worthless and more often negative opinions on you; what I am saying is be a scholar and examine where you need to grow and learn and seek out wise instructions from someone who has an opinion worth asking for.
There is desirable treasure, and oil in the dwelling of the wise,
But a foolish man squanders it.
