- Psalm 33:6 (NKJV) By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.
I don’t see how they do it—people who don’t believe in miracles.
By this I am especially thinking of naturalists who say there is no god. How dangerous and unpredictable is that! In their way of thinking the universe just “popped” into existence in some way. Nothing produced something, chaos produced order, darkness produced light, and non-intelligence produced intelligence.
If that is true then what do they call that?! (“Miraculous”?)
But think of the horror of living in a universe like that. If that could truly happen then what else might happen. If something can “pop” out of nothing, then who’s to say that something can, at any moment, implode into nothing? If intelligence can be produced by non-intelligence then who’s to say that an intelligent person could suddenly become non-intelligent? (Oops, I think I‘ve witnessed that a few times already!)
And then, what else might happen at any moment if “nothing” is required for it to happen.
Wow, that is a scary thought. The only hope I can see is if “God” popped out of nothing and brought some order to this world; but then that would defeat their whole godless philosophy.
I’ve got a better idea; just give me a good old-fashioned world where miracles can occasionally happen when they fulfill the purpose of an all-knowing, all-powerful and loving God.
And in the meantime, I will rest in the rock-solid providential care of that all-knowing, all-powerful and loving God—knowing that He is working all things together for His glory and our good.
