The ONE THING for today

What to do when you feel naked

  • Genesis 3:9-10 (NKJV) Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

Why are people afraid of God? The answer is simple: We are naked before him.

I mean, how can you feel comfortable in the presence of an absolutely perfect being? Moreover, this Being (God) knows your every flaw, your every thought, and selfish motive–He knows and sees everything. And to top it all off, he is going to judge you by comparing your poor excuse at being good against his impeccable and perfect righteousness.

No wonder people are afraid of God. No wonder they go to great lengths to try to explain away God. If this was the end of the story I’d join them.

But all of the above is just the introduction to the story. Read the entire Bible and you will discover that it tells the story of how God provided a way for us to be able to be in his presence without having to be afraid.

The cliff notes version is simply this: You can be covered (all your faults, failures, and sins) and clothed through faith in Jesus Christ.

When you put your faith in Jesus and the work he did at Calvary you are clothed in his righteous, judged according to what he has done and accepted along with him as a child of God.

Some people say if you want to get to the root of a matter follow the money trail. There’s a better answer: follow Jesus. Whatever you do today, stay in his presence. Do not be afraid of Him, he is covering you and you do not have to be afraid of God.

This all happened because God loves you—never doubt it.

Isaiah 61:10 (NKJV)

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, My soul shall be joyful in my God;

For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness…

  1. Thank you , Pastor Kemp, for reminding me that I am clothed in the righteousness of the Blood of Christ Jesus… When you are weak in the physical body, k the devil is continually accusing you of your past sins, you wear down…Thank God for today’s blog. I submit to God, and resist the devil and he will flee, for I wear the robe of righteousness that Christ provided at Calvary.
