The ONE THING for today

Tomorrow maybe, but now you can do

  • Matthew 6:34 (MSG) Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.

It was brought to my attention recently that NOW spelt backwards is WON; the point being that the key for winning is taking care of what needs to be taken care now—you can do that.

You can get through this day.

You can live through this day on what you have right now.

You have the strength to lift the very next load that has been assigned to you.

You can do now.

Tomorrow? Worry about that when you get there.

What will you do if the bridge is out up ahead? Make that decision when you get there.

What if _____ happens? Neither you or me knows…

But you can do now—stay focused on that.

  1. when I am overloaded with things to do, I can’t decide what to first. Then I say “Do the next thing.” One decision to do the next thing at a time. Moment by moment live in Christ Jesus. He will see you through all things!

  2. A very special person that I know tells me that we must live in the moment – and not spend so much time in the “past” or the “future”. She calls it “mindfulness”; to be mindful of what’s happening right now. So many times we (the universal we) get stuck in backing up or moving forward and we forget to be mindful of the moment. I feel like Charlie Brown when I can actually be mindful – “Good Grief! Look at all I’ve been missing!”
