The ONE THING for today

Easter’s declaration

  • Romans 1:4 (NKJV) and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.

April 20, 2014 is the High Holy Day for all Christians for this year: Easter.

This week I’d like to walk you through a few of the wonderful truths concerning the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Today I’d like to remind you of the central benefit of Jesus Christ’s resurrection: Because of the resurrection you can rest assured that Jesus is who he said he was and can do what he said he’d do. DSC07467

You see, the resurrection did not make Jesus the Son of God and Savior of the world; but it did declare Him as the Son of God and Savior of the world. If there was any doubt before the resurrection all questions were laid to rest after Jesus got up from where he had been laid to rest.

Jesus based everything on the fact of the resurrection. He didn’t ask us to blindly believe in him and to follow him. He based the authority of everything he did and said on the fact that he would be resurrected (Matthew 12:39-40; John 2:20-22).

The words of the angel on that first Easter morning sum it up well: But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. (Matthew 28:5-6, NKJV)

Bottom line, the resurrection of Jesus Christ has been validated and confirmed by the greatest minds in the world—both by Christians and non-Christians. If you have put the well-being of your eternal soul into his care—both in this life and the life to come then you can have perfect peace—the message of Easter declares it!

And if you have not committed the well-being of your eternal soul into his care, why not do so today? There is no firmer foundation to build your life upon.
