- 2 Timothy 4:1-5 (NKJV) I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:
Pastor Larry Nivens likes to tell the story of the first time he preached for me. At the time Larry was just beginning his ministry and I wanted to impress upon him the importance of preaching the gospel, so just moments before he was to step behind the pulpit and preach his first sermon I whispered to him, “Larry, remember you will stand in the judgment for the souls of the people you are going to preach to tonight.”
He later told me that that statement so frighten him that he could hardly bring himself to preach. We both chuckle about that occasion now. But I truly believe that.
Furthermore, I believe we all have a charge from God in some area that He is holding us responsible to fulfill.
What have you been charged with? How are you doing with that charge?
I want to remind you that this life is not like a flight simulator—this is the real deal; you don’t get a redo or second chance. The stakes are high; don’t allow your focus to be taken away from what really matters today. Lesser things are not worthy of you or your time—stay focused on what God has charged you with; that is why you were born.
