The ONE THING for today

Sand on the brain

imagesProverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

I’ve heard that negative thinking can be compared to putting a handful of sand in your engine block each morning before heading out.  Soon your engine will lock down.

However, don’t be too quick to define “negative thinking.”

It is not negative thinking to see the negatives of life.  We are not called to live in “la la land”; we’re called to live wise and thoughtful lives.  To ignore either the positives or the negatives of live is unwise.

What negative thinking is however is looking at life without factoring in God.

For example, while caught up in the moment, an extra-marital affair made may seem like a fun and positive decision; but the truth is, in light of God, that is very negative thinking.

On the other hand, a sudden and unexpected “tragedy” may seem like a very negative event—unless you factor in a God who is working all things together for our good.

Bottom line, today’s verse is the most positive way to go.
