The ONE THING for today

Put it in park

  • Romans 12:2 (NKJV) And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

It is important to remember that waste time is not rest time and rest time is not waste time.

We often operate under the illusion that if we could just “chill out” and do nothing that it would be good for us, but we could not be further from the truth.park

For example, turning off your brain after a long busy day and just watching a little television is not rest time—it is class room time and what you’re learning while your brain is in idle is probably toxic. Remember, words mean something—they are not neutral and they are not without effect. Throw in a story line, images and music and you ramp up the power of the message exponentially.

Neutral is seldom ever a good position to be in; almost always you roll down hill to the lowest point. A better option is putting yourself in “park”—parking at the feet of Jesus in quietness and meditation, it is there that you will find rest for your soul and that is never a waste of time.
