When You Don’t Have Much to Work With

  • 1 Samuel 17:40 (NLT) He picked up five smooth stones from a stream and put them into his shepherd’s bag. Then, armed only with his shepherd’s staff and sling, he started across the valley to fight the Philistine.

So take inventory: What have you got to work with?

Not much?

We often think that creativity is coming up with something new from scratch, but most often creativity is scratching something new out of what you’ve untitledalready got.

My wife is great with this.  She can rummage around in the refrigerator and gather up a few things, work a little of her magic, and presto—something delicious appears.

Get creative today.  Your ship may never come in; you may have to get to your promise land in a rowboat.  That’s OK, make it an adventure.

Sure, wait on the Lord (Psalm 27:14, Isaiah 40:31), but do something with what He’s already given you while you wait.

After all King David’s journey to the throne started with five smooth stones…
