The ONE THING for today

Just add a comma…

  • Romans 5:8 (HCSB) But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!

Don’t fool yourself, loving anyone for a long time is a challenge.  It is easier than you think to move from “I love you!”, to “I think I love you”, to “I used to love”.

I think, "I love you."

I think, “I love you.”

Here’s the way to stop the downward slide when you sense the love fading in an important relationship—add a comma, that’s right, add a single comma.

When you start moving into the “I think I love you” stage add a comma so that you say, “I think, I love you.”

In other words, you make statements like: “When you get on my last nerve I think, “I love you.”  Or, “Every time you disappoint me I think, “I love you.”

Get the picture?

What I am describing is “agape love”.  It is love that is rooted in our thought process; it is “brainy” love that makes a choice—not based on feelings or even facts, but based on someone thinking to them self: “Come hell or high water, I’m going to love this person.”

It’s that kind of determined love that gets you through the tough times and which builds the foundation for the more (how can I say this)…”less brainy” love.

And who said grammar doesn’t matter.

  1. I love this. I was asked recently to write my mantra & it is “Love is messy……choose to Love” (must have been outta my mind, lol) It is an intentional discipline.
    Blessings & Laughter.
