- Titus 2:13 (NKJV) …looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
Recently I had a conversation with a man who had strayed far from the faith of his childhood. It was with a sad and bitter cynicism that he said, “Everybody talked about the second coming of Jesus but nobody lived liked they believed it.”
While that excuse will never stand up when he stands before God on the Judgment Day, it is a sad commentary of how a young man’s elders let him down when he needed them most.
Commit to live like you believe what you say.
If you confess Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior—live like it.
If you confess that your Christian faith is more important to you than anything—live like it.
If you confess your belief in the imminent (it could happen any moment) return of Jesus Christ—live like it.
And if you don’t’ really believe these things, do your family, friends and acquaintances a favor and don’t say that you do.
Bottom line, don’t be an excuse for someone to reject the faith and walk away from the only true hope they have in this world and the world to come.
Better yet, do believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and faithfully live as you do so that what you say and what you do are aligned. In other words, be an excuse for God to say to the world, “But I sent my servant _______ to share with you and to show you by example–the way, the truth and the life.”
