Wow, what an ending to our 2013 Fall Revival (Renovate)!
We closed out the revival with a celebration time that included twenty-two baptisms–see here (a picture is a worth a thousand words); that alone (and there are many additional reasons) was worth all the effort that went into this year’s event.
Today, however, I’d like to leave you with one thought.
I wonder how many others thought about the huge contrast between our two speaker; the contrast could not have been more extreme. For example, David Ring suffers from cerebral palsy and Chad Williams is just a few years away from being a Navy SEAL. Ring is celebrating 40 years of ministry, Williams barely four years of ministry. One is entering the later years of his life and ministry the other is in the prime of his life. One is weak, the other strong. Yet they both did a marvelous job of preaching the Gospel and God used them both mightily to minister to our church and community–I could not have been more pleased.
This leads me to my thought for you today and it is this: You are of tremendous value and worth to God–not in spite of who you are–but because of who you are.
Who you are, with all of your hang-ups, handicaps, messes and successes, is the platform that God desires to use to set you up for a life of purpose and contribution. If you will give them to Him, God will weave the tapestry of your life from the daily threads of your accumulated experiences and decisions and make a masterpiece that will provide the platform for you to live an exciting and productive life.
Bottom line, the one thing for you today is: There is no excuse for you to be a victim or to feel ashamed or unworthy. You are of tremendous value and worth to God (and all of us)–not in spite of who you are and what you’ve done–but because of who you are and what you’ve done.
So, I encourage you: dedicate or rededicate your life to Jesus Christ today–He is still in the renovation business.
