- Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
Recently I was listening to a podcast where a panel of Christian leaders was being interviewed. They were working their way through ten questions. One of the questions was: “What is your ‘life verse’?”
For me, Jeremiah 33:3 came immediately to mind. This verse has been a lifeline of hope throughout my entire life. I have been in over my head all my life; if it had not been for the truth of this verse I would not have made it.
For example, back in the ‘70s when Sonja and I were married premarital counseling was not heard of. The only counseling we received was a book – you guessed it, a book on sex. Turns out it was a good book but I found out quick that marriage is about a lot more than sex; boy did I have a lot of learning to do.
Then my ministry: I quickly discovered that the formal training I had received to prepare me had many gaps when it came to the practical issues of life and ministry.
Then came children and both of them came with no manual. Need I go on?
Over the years I have faced difficult and excruciating challenges. There have been times that I felt that I was drowning in responsibilities and problems. But then…I’d call on the Lord and without fail He would answer and show me what to do.
Sunday after Sunday; message after message He’s come through.
Problem after problem I’d whisper a prayer to my Father God and He’d come through.
Challenge after challenge I have called out to my Father God and just in the nick of time He’d show me great and mighty things that I knew not of.
Bottom line, at every stage of life I have discovered that there were many things that I did not know. I’m certain that will be case going forward as well. But I’ve also learned that God’s promise in Jeremiah 33:3 is true.
Maybe that’s a reminder that you need today. We both face a very uncertain future, but we have this certainty: God knows and when we call upon Him He will show us what we need to know.
Thank you Pastor Kemp for that verse in Jeremiah. I just printed it out and it will stay in my Bible. Have a blessed day and may He bless all you do….Love Ann & Joe
