- James 4:6 (NKJV) But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
What are the points of resistance in your life? Or put another way, what are those nagging things that will not go away or improve that you are ignoring?
If you are not careful, you will ignore those points of resistance and end up doing great damage to yourself and those you love.
An example of this is weight loss. Most people just ignore the fact that they are not losing weight. Oh they may give an occasional effort at losing a few pounds or drink a diet drink to compensate for the dessert they are going to eat, but as far as really sitting down and evaluating what the resistance points are to them living more healthily and longer by losing weight and then formulating a plan of action to overcome those resistant points – it just doesn’t happen.
Money is another area I see this happen. Most people never confront the resistance points that keep them from being financially secure. Instead, they go from financial crisis to financial crisis or just slog along living from paycheck to paycheck.
What about your job? What are the resistance points that are keeping it from being fulfilling and productive – and what specifically are you going to do about it?
What about your key relationships? What are the resistance points that are keeping them from getting better – and what specifically are you going to do about it?
And most importantly, what are the resistance points that are keeping your relationship with God from improving – and what specifically are you going to do about it?
Like the person who goes for months or years ignoring that abnormality in their body and then wakes up one day only to discover that they afflicted with an incurable and deadly disease that could have been cured if they had gotten help earlier; I’m afraid most of us go through life ignoring the points of resistance in our lives only to wake up one day with a full plate of regrets.
So my dear friend, what are the points of resistance in your life right now…and what specifically are you going to do about them?
Remember, waiting on someone else to do something about your problems makes you a victim; you doing something about them makes you a victor.
