With a Focus on 40-days of Prayer & Fasting… Day-20/40 (50% Complete)

  • Psalm 55:19 (NKJV) God will hear, and afflict them…because they do not change,

Every once in a while you hear something that changes your life forever.  The following statement did that for me: “You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.”

If you know me, you know that I enjoy ice cream, but what you may not know is that I seldom eat it.  I keep up with how much ice cream I eat each year and could tell you exactly how much I’ve eaten.  I know, it’s a little crazy but if I ate all the ice cream I craved I’d literally kill my slowly with a spoon – I had to change that and I have to hold myself accountable – thus my record keeping.

I’ll never forget the 2007 Prayer Conference; not because of the great preaching (I’m sure it was) or the great singing (I’m sure it was), but because of one thing one of the ministers said about interceding daily for his family – intentionally and specifically.  God prompted my heart that night in a gripping way that I needed to change how I was praying for my family.   I begin changing daily how I prayed for my family and I have seen the change (both in me and them).

The point if this: the last thing you need to think is that 40-days is a temporary event in your life that will be over in 20 days.  If that is the case then you will only get a temporary benefit.  However, 40-days is about so much more than that.  This is a season for you to make changes in your life that will last a lifetime.  It’s about moving you from the ranks of “victim” (hoping that others will change or that your situation will change mysterious on it’s own) and moving into the ranks of the empowered (I shall take responsible action myself).

You’ve got 20 days left to do something about your life – change something you do daily and you will be amazed at how the accumulative effect will forever change your life.

Miracle are great – but they are rare (that’s why we call them miracles).  Daily doses of wise change, now that can be done…and it works miracles over the long run.

  1. excellent post. and, if you ascribe to CS Lewis’ view of miracles, then they are not supernatural works, as much as they are a re-calibration of the world, or a re-instituting of the “original natural”. that would mean that those daily decisions are miracles, as they are bringing things back in line with the way of God’s original intent.

regardless of all that – great point, glad i read it.
