How to Stay Pure

I am sitting in a stuffy board room in Cleveland, TN as I type this. I’ve been at this for two days and still have a couple more hours to go plus a six-hour drive home.

My purpose in sharing this is not for applause or sympathy but to share an important principle of life. The principle is this: There must be something/someone in your life that you serve that brings no direct benefit to you.

For a number of years I found myself being resentful at being pulled away from my work and home. I felt that I was so busy that assignments like today’s were a burden.

Then one day the Holy Spirit got through my proud pity party and reminded me that life was not all about me and “my” work and “my” home. Life is about Jesus’ work and getting people to His home.

The way I look at it, assignments like today keep me pure, they keep the “me” and “mine” down to the right size and the He and His up to the right size.

How about you, how pure are you?
