John 3:21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.
We usually think of telling the truth, but John uses a rather unusual phrase here – he writes of “doing the truth.” This reminds me of the expression, “You can’t pray your bible open.” IOW, there comes a time that beliefs must be put into action. Not only are there truths to be believed, there are truthful deeds to be done.
So brothers, while we are praying, let’s also prayerfully connect our prayers with our deeds.
“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Matthew 26:41
