The ONE THING for June 21, 2012: A Call for Men (and Women) to Pray – 4/28 Days of Developing a Prayer Life

Brothers, I’ve got a confession to make this morning…I want so much to skip (postpone) my prayer this time and jump right into my work.  I woke up this morning with deadlines looming and plans for a full day lying at my feet; it is so tempting to say, “Lord, please help me and I’ll get to my prayer time after I complete these urgent things that I have to get to.”

But here’s the answer to that feeling: “Stop!  There is nothing more important than my quiet time with my Father God.  If I put Him first all the other “stuff” will get done and it will get done in His strength.”  Why I would want to shut God out of my life or put Him on hold?  And why should you?

Thank God I’ve got enough sense to listen (I’ve been down this road before).  I’m guessing you know how I feel this morning.  Matter of fact, you may be facing the same temptation…don’t give in!  Pray brother!  Slow yourself down a minute or two, you’re not regret it.

Devotional for today:

2 Timothy 1:14 That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

The Three “R’s” of Prayer (2/3): Take Responsibility

The number one sign that a boy has become a man is that he begins to taking responsibility.  Being a man doesn’t mean you are always right and it doesn’t mean that you never fail.  What it does mean is that you take responsibility.  It means you try.  It means you take ownership.  It means that you would rather fail than not do something.

Brothers, are you running from something?  Trust me, in the long run, you will be so much better off if you will stop running and start taking “prayerful” responsibility.  God means for you to be a man, not just a big boy; taking prayerful responsibility is the first step.

  1. I had the same thing happen to me this morning. I PRAYED

Sometimes I feel I didn’t give my best but I strive to do better. I owe him my best

    1. Thanks for the response dear prayer partner! Larry, at the end of the day, the truth is we are all just very imperfect and fallen humans, I’m so thankful that God understands and extends grace. Blessings, brother!
