I suppose I still have Mother’s Day on my mind because the ONE THING that I’d like for you think about today is: “Fight for your family.”
It has been said that the darkest place of any lighthouse is always at its base. The same can be true for us when it comes to the base of our lives – our family. Having lived in the “fish bowl” world of a pastor’s home all my life I have for the most part been surrounded by kind and caring people. However, I had to learn early on that while there were many people who loved my family no one was fighting for my family.
The same is true in your world. People will fight for a piece of your time and energy, but no one will fight for your family; that’s your responsibility.
Today’s ONE THING is not a call to selfishness or cynicism but it is call to remind you to remember who you are working for, fighting for and praying for.
This weekend, my son asked me if it was ok to punch people in the face. Typical boy…. My first response was absolutely not. Then I thought for a second and replied, the only time you can punch someone in the face is if they try to hurt mommy or your little sister Abigail. I believe I was right in saying that, but not sure how that will back fire on me…..
