Friday: REST! (No service tonight)
Hebrews 4:1 (NKJV)
Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.
- One of the things that Sonja and I have noticed during this 40-days season is that we have had to be much more intentional about observing our Sabbath rest. It was a reminder of two things:
- First: Busy seasons of life can knock you off track from the nonnegotiable of life. (Ever been so busy that you felt you didn’t have time to read your Bible?)
- Second: The enemy of the best is usually something that is very good. That has been the case for Sonja and me. As important as our 40-days season has been, observing a day of Sabbath rest is a part of the fabric of our lives. It is a part of how God created and calibrated the universe we live in so making time for Sabbath rest is not about a legalistic duty but rather living our lives at God’s pace. However, living life at God’s pace is not always easy.
- Bottom line, during this season of extra and excellent busyness, we had to fight for our Sabbath rest.
- How are you doing in this area? In this busy secular world that does not observe nor appreciate someone trying to live a godly life, have you been fighting hard enough for your Sabbath rest? Take this Friday to examine this issue and how you are going to handle all the “free time” that you have been devoting to 40-days. Have a plan! Don’t just drift back in your old way of living.
Restfully,
dlkemp
