Living on Sabbath Time: Day 6/31

Ever heard of a “haboob”?  If you live in Phoenix Arizona you have.   A haboob is a violent dust or sandstorm occurring on the southwest deserts of Arizona.  It can have wind speeds that exceed 60 mph!  That is what Phoenix is going through today.  There is a fifty mile wide sandstorm pounding Phoenix even as I type these words.  It is so bad that the airport is closed stranding hundreds of people and there are thousands that have no electricity.

Storms are a fact of life.  Whether it is an emotional storm, a deluge of sickness, a downpour of extra work, or a violent Summer thunderstorm, the temptation is to try to do something.  However, a part of what makes a storm a storm is that it is something that is beyond our control and we don’t like that!  Today I want to remind you that God uses storms.  Storms are reminders that we need Him.  Storms can be “Sabbath moments” when we stop and seek shelter and rest till the storm passes over.

Maybe you are going through a stormy season right now.  Instead of working harder and worrying more why not enter into Sabbath rest.  Storms are not a sign to do more, storms are a call to pray and trust more.  If you could control the storms you would never have them; therefore that means that there are just some things in life that are going to be bigger than you and beyond your ability to control.  That is no disgrace; it is simply a reminder that no matter what other people think of you, you’re still a child – God’s child.  Capitalize on that.  Reach up in faith and prayer right now.  Run to His and you will find refuge and
shelter that only comes to his children.
