100623: Affirmations to Live By – “How I Will Face Each Day” (#4)

Wow!  I can’t believe that it is after 11:00 p.m. and I am updating my blog.  That is Campmeeting living for you.  It’s been a good but long day.  The service was good this evening and then Sonja and I did the Church of God thing – we went out with some friends after church for a meal together.  (This goes back to when everything was wrong except eating).  Now it is late and time to get to bed.

I’ve been walking us through my affirmations on “How I Will Face Each Day.”  Tonight I’m going to add number 4; but I’d better hurry or I’ll be facing the new day in less than hour!

FIRST: How I will face each day: I will live a life of thanksgiving by remembering and enumerating the many blessings from God upon my life.

SECOND: How I will face each day: I will remember that the only difference between those who have failed and those who have succeeded lies in the difference of their habitsGood habits are the key to all success.  Bad habits are the unlocked door to failure.  Therefore, I will form good habits and become their slave.

THIRD: How I will face each day: Today I will act on those things that are most important (Mission critical).  I shall not get bogged down with triviality or things that others can do at least adequately.

FOURTH: How I will face each day: Today, I will act and I will act NOW.  A map has never taken me anywhere, a detailed calendar has never accomplished anything for me – action was required.

This is my son Lee practicing the fourth affirmation! He's taking action!

Recently I attended my nephew, Grant Finley’s graduation and a young man was honored with a special award.  He was awarded a Perfect Attendance award.  His perfect attendance was not just for his high school years but for twelve years of perfect attendance!  Amazing!

This young man’s accomplishment is a reminder that the person that simply keeps showing up will eventually come out on top.  There is a place for reflection and rest; but at the end of the day, for the Christian the word that Jesus left for us was – “Go.”

I remember a couple years ago when I was faced with a huge personnel change, a building program and a crashing economy.  I remember asking God several times if He was sure about all that I was going through.  But each day I got up and did the best I could to do what I felt God would have me do and now looking back I can see how God worked everything out for everyone involved.  God was faithful, but what was required of me was to also be faithful.

Being faithful doesn’t mean you have all the answers or that you feel like being faithful; if simply means showing up day after day to do your duty and to do it with all your might.  If you will continue to do that one day your actions will bring home a harvest of blessing and reward.  So be faithful and be encouraged.  There is a reward waiting for you.

Well good evening or better yet, “Good morning” to all you dearly loved “P-E-Ppers” and other friends and family…I conclude by offering my love, prayers and best wishes.
