100605: An eventide prayer…

8:00 p.m. and time to close the week out.  It’s been a good week with a lot of highs and lows.  The PEPper family (FMCOG) has celebrated the graduation of some of our finest (just beginning with life) and on the other hand we have dearly loved members fighting for their lives.

What to do?  We must put it all in our sovereign Father God’s hands…and that is what I do this evening:

“Father God, on behalf of all my dearly loved family, church family and friends, I offer this week to you.  Thank you for every provision, protection and above all the peace of knowing that in those things that we do not understand we can still trust you because we know that you love us and care for us.

I offer our B-E-S-T efforts and also those efforts that we came up short.  Take our sins, sorrows, successes and secrets and make good come out of them all.

I ask these things in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ in whom we have access to YOU.  Amen”

This is a picture of a little boy I took while passing through a village in Ecuador. Pictures like this help keep life in perspective and challenge me to make my life count for something/someone that matters.

Quotation of the day:

  • “At the very root of it all, faith is an unshaken confidence that what we believe about God and His Word is true.” _Joseph M. Stowell, Shepherding the Church into the 21st Century, p. 173
