100501: There’s a place for you…

Good Saturday evening (or Sunday morning) whichever it is for you,

Well, it’s been a good week and I am at peace this Saturday evening / I feel that we’ve given a good account of ourselves this week.  Perfect?  Absolutely not.  But that was never the point.  The point is that we’re our Father God’s and we’ve allowed Him to share in our lives / that is why we can be at peace.

Wow!  I’ve come out blazing with my preacher hat on tonight!  But hang with me a little bit longer.  I read a passage out of Jeremiah this morning that has stayed with me all day.  It is Jeremiah 18:1-2, and it says,

1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying:

2 “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.”

There’s two things I want to point out to you about this verse \ in light of what I’ve underlined \ “and there”

  1.  God will send us to certain places or situations for that is required for us to hear from Him.  If you’re like me, everything hasn’t gone right this week.  There have been highlights but there have been low points as well.  But one thing I know, God is in control and I have the peace of knowing that everything that happened this week will somehow fit into His plan for me / in other words, I had to go “there” so that I could hear from God.
  2. But there is a second thing that I want to remind you of.  The Bible teaches that God also sets his special favor upon certain places (Psalm 73:17 for example) and that if we go there we will receive special revelation and strength.  (You know where I’m going with this!)  For those of you that are “PEPpers” that special place is found on Academy Street in Fort Mill, i.e. our House of Worship.  You need to be there in the morning / God has put His name upon our campus for a special group of people.  It is not everyone’s church (there’s a lot of other great congregations out there) / but it is your church and if you will be there God will be there waiting and he has a special word for you tomorrow.  So…don’t be square!  Be there!

As far as Kempsville…

Thankfully Sonja and I both made it back home safe.  Sonja’s mom, through she still has a way to go, is on the mend and doing better and I feel that things went well for me last night at our state denominational headquarters and the lesson taught to the ministerial interns.

“Farmer” Lee has been busy this weekend.  He and the sports ministry team sold roasted corn at the Fort Mill Strawberry Festival as a fund-raiser.  They hit a home run with it / Lee has been shucking corn all weekend 🙂

  • (Way to go to Mayor Funderburk and the City Council for a great event!)

David Lee is on the mend / though I haven’t seen him I learn these things through Facebook  🙂

Briana is well / she has been hanging out with a long-time friend whose grandmother died this week and the funeral was today.

I guess that’s about it except to say, I love you and wish you a good evening,

Speaking of dogs / this is my one of my "Granddogs" (Chase) eye-balling the Lad. They're "buds"

Shout outs:

  • Thanks to Bob Lang, director of Senior Adult ministries, for letting me cut in line tonight at the Young at Heart – Bob you made it possible to not have to rush through my meal and still get to the prayer service on time / you’re the B-E-S-T.
  • Kudos to the Church Trio / I really enjoyed their singing tonight!
  • Special blessings be with Jack and Judy Walker.  All my Saturday night prayer service regulars had other obligations and could not be there so it was just Sonja, Jack and Judy with me tonight.  If we have a great day tomorrow – and I believe we will – it will be because of dear ones like Jack and Judy / they’re the B-E-S-T.

Quote of the day: (Bob thought about sharing this nugget at the Young at Heart meeting tonight but choose not too / I’m going to take it that it was saved for you!  Here goes…

  • “Some days you feel like a dog and then some days you feel like the water hydrate!”

  1. Pastor,
I just wanted to let you know that I love and appreciate your blogging (and love that you are now on Facebook)! I know it must feel sometimes like something else added to the list of to do’s, but just know there are many of us who need this. We are so sorry that we missed appreciation Sunday for you. We were in Mexico enjoying some r and r. We’ll make it up to you guys some time!
    Love ya,
