All pull, no push

“It was all pull, no push.” _David Gardner

*****

I heard the neatest phrase the other day.

I was listening to a podcast produced by David Gardner of Motley Fool fame. He was describing the process of how he came to the decision to make a major transition in his life. He described it as “all pull, no push.”

It was his way of saying that it was not problems, weariness, or difficulties that pushed him to resign and move on, it was because something bigger, better, and more fulfilling was pulling him away from what he was doing.

I really like that.

What a motivation for doing something.

What a way to live.

“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather, teach them to long for the immensity of the sea.”

_Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Too many people are running from something instead of running toward something.

Their motivation is to escape, get away, give up instead of ascend, transform, and explore.

The ONE THING for today:

Don’t be pushed around. Look for what is pulling you and head in that direction. That’s where the future you’re longing for is.
