Brutally honest

Why would you be brutal!?

Even in being honest?

I am hard pressed to think of anytime that brutality is a virtue.

Whether you are preparing a meal, preparing a resume, or crying for justice…presentation matters. And brutality has no place in that presentation.

The truth is, you cannot be brutal without it being brutalizing, both to you and to the person on the receiving end.

Remember, the truth is meant to set people free, not bludgeon them to death. So, if you are not ready to articulate the truth kindly and in love, you are not yet ready to speak. Be silent, you’ve still got some work to do.

The ONE THING for today: Being known as someone who is “brutally honest” is nothing to celebrate; it is being known as someone who is trust-worthy that is worth celebrating.
