Started this morning with Sonja on my case…

We hadn’t been up but a few minutes this morning before Sonja was on my case. She got on me for eating too much beef over the last few months.  She is right.

Once a month Sonja and I make it a point to go to Rock Hill and to be with my daughter and her family to visit with them and worship with them at their church. The Garden Inn in Rock Hill has become our home away from home.  We’ve gotten to know the staff pretty good, including the chef.

They have a little ribeye on the menu that he prepares pretty close to perfection, and without realizing it I have been comparing other restaurants with that chef.

As we discussed this, Sonja agreed with me about how good the chef at Garden Inn could cook and said, (not mean-spiritedly), “Yeah, he’s a big man.”

She’s right. How can you trust a skinny chef?  If you are going to throw down good money for a plate of food you want the chef to look like he or she enjoys eating their own cooking.

I suspect the same is true for the world as they observe Christians. How can you trust a skinny chef and how can you trust a Christian that demonstrates no love for Christ and their fellow Christians?  The-One-Thing-200x300

  • The ONE THING for today: The world doesn’t need angry, finger-pointing Christians, they need Christians who live up to their name by loving Jesus Christ and each other with a passion and dedication that sets them on a journey of trying to find that kind of love for themselves. Eventually, they will end up in the arms of Jesus.

Oh, and by the way, I am so thankful Sonja cares about what I eat. When she starts asking, “Do you want some gravy on those steak and fried eggs I know I am toast.

1 Peter 4:8 (NKJV)

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”

  1. Great story –

Sounds like my wife Elaine and Sonja are conspiring.

But I do not dare to ever say anything about what she is eating.

    Life is a hoot.

I guess we just smile and know that they love us and God loves us too.

I tell Elaine, “yes mam” and I tell God “to keep showing me more and thank you”.

What if we told our wives what we tell God?

    🙂
