The passing of an era

Yesterday was the passing of an era – the era of Larry Jackson, perhaps the bravest and most-godly man I’ve ever known.

His long battle with ALS is over; the victory is finally won.

However, for us that remain…

Words can’t describe how deeply I mourn the loss of my dearly loved friend and brother.

Just one of many special memories with Larry Jackson

I treasure deeply the privilege of being Larry’s pastor for almost twenty years and will hold dear the precious memories and conversations that we shared.

It has been said that it takes ten affirming remarks to counter balance just one negative remark, well Larry excelled as a counter balance in my life.  It was his prayers and encouragement that got me through many dark days and difficult situations.

I am deeply and forever indebted to this dear man.  The loss of his prayers and encouragement is going to be a bitter blow to me for the rest of my life.

I offer my deepest condolences to his family, especially his dear wife, Cindy—a faithful Proverbs 31 wife and his two sons who obeyed the Fifth Commandment with par excellence and I join with all my dearly loved Fort Mill Church of God family in mourning the loss of a great and godly man.

His prayers, wit, laughter, courage, and example will be severely missed.

Our only consolation is that we will all be together again soon.

Revelation 22:20 (NKJV)

He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”

Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

  1. My heart hurt when I heard Larry passed on to glory. I only had the privilege of knowing him for 3 years but, in that short time, I came to know that he was an incredible man of God and a wonderful person. He will be missed by all.
Now he is running in the golden streets of heaven and I can’t even image the reception the man receive.
Pastor I know your love for Larry. That is enough said. I will continue to pray for you and your ministry.
My heart goes out to all the family and friend and especially Mike who was his faithful friend.
