Billy Sunday, the famed evangelist from the early 20th century, described many Christians as people who would rather be a comet than a star of Bethlehem.
In others words, they make life about themselves, not Jesus; their goal in life is to have people notice them, not Jesus; what makes them happy is getting the credit rather than Jesus getting the glory.
Remember, the only reason Jesus could declare that his followers are the light of the world is because he is the light within them. Without him we walk in darkness without hope and without life. (Matthew 5:14; John 1:5, 3:19, 8:12, 12:46)
- The ONE THING for today: Stop making life about you—your feelings and priorities and start making life about pointing people, in all you do and say, to Jesus Christ.
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
John 8:12 (NKJV)
