- Luke 15:7 (NKJV) I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.
Politicians like to talk about “working for the people” and that’s not a bad thing—I work for people.
Matter of fact, everyone should be working for someone. To make life only about yourself is a very miserable existence.
But here’s the catch-22; I have discovered that “working for the people” can often keep me from the people. Whether as a son, husband, parent, grandparent or pastor, I have often found myself so busy working for those I love that I had no time left for to be with those I love.
A few years ago I made a commitment that while working for the people I would also keep a few persons in my life every day.
This means that I personally try to visit, call, or contact in some way someone personally everyday and express my love and concern to them. This commitment has greatly enriched my life and I think I can say confidently that it has enriched other people’s lives as well.
After all, it’s good to know that someone important in your life loves you; but it is even better to occasionally hear it from the “horse’s mouth”.
The ONE THING for today: While working for the people you love, be sure to actually express that love to a few of them daily.
