- Genesis 3:8 (NKJV) …and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
It is so easy to hide ourselves among the things God has given us to tend.
Just as God gave Adam and Eve the garden to tend, he has given you things to take care of. Your “garden” can include family, work church, community service—all good and noble things.
However, you can get lost in the forest of activity. You can turn these things into something they were never meant to be—the center of your life.
You were designed with a “God-shaped” hole in the center of your being, nothing else or no one else can fill that void. The moment you allow your life to rotate around something or someone other than God you’ve lost your way—you’re hiding in the things of God instead of in God.
The ONE THING for today: Make it a nonnegotiable that you will spend time with God before tending the “garden” he has prepared for you.
Don’t get lost in the forest this week; walk with God through everything; you’ll not regret it one time.
