I hope you win

  • 1 Corinthians 2:6 (NKJV) However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.

The wisdom of this world is so seductive. For example, take this quote from a Hall of Fame coach, Vince Lombardi: “Winning isn’t everything but wanting to win is.”piaa-football-102a2ee8481efdf5

The temptation is to actually believe that. But remember, Jesus didn’t call you to follow after winning or success; neither did he warn you about becoming a failure or loser. He simply said, “Come follow me.” (Matthew 16:24; 19:21)

Beware of the wisdom of this world. It sounds so right but turns out so wrong.

For the record, I hope you win as long as you know what “winning” means; but more than that, my prayer is that you follow Jesus…which, come to think of it, is what “winning” really means.
