- Genesis 1:20 (NIV) And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.”
This is an entry from my journal a year ago today; made while taking a hike around the shore of the beautiful lake at Croft State Park:
- 130109: What I am thankful for today: While walking along the lake shore at Croft State Park I came up on a large flock of ducks on the water. I hope I never forget the sound of their wings hitting the water as they lifted off from the lake and – flying barely above the water – flew in formation around the lake and then settled back down in a different spot; it was a sacred moment.

The truth is, I did forget it; I had not thought about the event again until this morning and then it all came back and I was able to thank my Lord twice for this special moment. And should I live, each year when this entry comes back around I will remember again and thank Him.
Life is full of moments like these–freeze them with words and thaw them out once a year and enjoy then again.
The one thing for today? Journal! (as in journal being a verb)
