Today’s ONE THING: The Three Requirements of Success (1/3)

  • Hebrews 11:1,3 (NKJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

No matter your field of endeavor there are a few common principles that apply to everyone who wants to be a success (unless your definition of success is to be a couch potato).

The first requirement of success is: Vision (think: “faith”)

Vision = the ability to see things how they can be, not how they are.

The difference between the man working for a paycheck and the man who is changing the world – while also getting a paycheck – is vision.

Without vision you are trapped. There will be a lid over your life at all times. That lid will be other peoples’ vision (or lack thereof) for you and the ever-changing winds of fortune and misfortune. But the moment you begin to look at your circumstances through the lens of how they could be you are headed toward success.

Let me mention two other important items…

You do not have to be a Christian or even a particularly good person to practice this principle; after all, Hitler was a great visionary and leader. However, for the person that will surrender their life to the lordship of Jesus Christ it’s like this principle gets supercharged on steroids. Not only will you approach every situation looking at it through the lens of how you think it could be; but you begin to see how God thinks they could be – now that ought to motivate you!

Finally, a vision birthed from a relationship with Jesus Christ not only brings success in this life but also produces eternal dividends and that’s where success is really sweet.
