Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (NKJV) “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. 2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God…”
There are some things you just can’t make happen.
For example, you can’t make people like you and you can’t make yourself rich, and you can’t make yourself happy.
Now what you can do is set the atmosphere for these things to happen.
For example with people: you can add value to people’s lives, be nice to them and treat them with respect and in most cases people will reciprocate.
When it comes to growing your wealth: you can save diligently and invest wisely and not waste your earnings on non-income producing expenditures and debt. Doing that over a long period of time will greatly increase your chances of accumulating a good nest egg; however, having said that, true riches (and happiness) is not a commodity or line on a ledger that can be bought and sold and quantified; true wealth and happiness is something that the Bible describes as “overtaking you.”
In other words, it is the favor of God upon your life that comes as a result of consistently doing the right things.
Bottom line: the goal for today is not trying to force things to happen the way you want them to happen; the goal is to align yourself with God’s priorities and principles and trust Him to align himself with His promises.
