- Genesis 15:1 (NKJV) After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”
You know this, but I want to remind you: Success is NOT (get this – not) a destination, an achievement or an accumulation; success is the blessing of God.
Again, catch the wording…I didn’t say that success is the blessings of God; no God is the blessing.
Imagine with me that you have been blessed recently with the birth of a precious new baby. As a result you’ve recently decorated one of the bedrooms in the house to accommodate your new baby. Furthermore, you brought a new crib, a car seat and maybe a stroller. You’ve also stocked up with diapers, baby powder and shampoo, blankets, and the cutest little outfits and of course baby food, and a dozen other things.
Now suppose you remark at work that you are surely a blessed person. When your fellow worker asks you why, you’re not going to reply by describing the new beautiful “baby room” or all the other things you’ve purchased; that would be silly. No, all the “stuff” is just trappings of the blessing; the blessing is your new baby.
In the same way – and far above anything or anyone – God is your blessing. If you have God and God has you – my dear friend – you are indeed blessed.
Keeping that in mind will give you the proper perspective you will need to stay sane, satisfied and smiling in this crazy mixed up world that has so missed what success truly is.
