Get someone to pinch you!

  • Galatians 6:1 (MSG) 1-3 Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day’s out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ’s law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived.

Find a friend and ask them to pinch you every time you end on a negative note.

Now I’m not one of those who believe in positive thinking that is not based in reality.  For example, if your house is burning-along with everything you own except the cloths on your back, you can spin it anyway you want but the truth is you’re in a tough spot.

However, there is a difference between realizing there are negative factors and ending on a negative note (being negative).

Some people live on “Negative Street”.   It’s easier for them to cut their right arm off that admit something is going good.  They see a problem in every solution, a deadly disease behind every cough and a cloud behind every sunny day.

So how can you keep from getting pinched?  Answer: Envision what is possible.

That’s right; take the time to assess the problems, costs, and liabilities-but don’t stop there!  Then take the time to envision what is possible.  Think solutions; think potential.  Tally the lessons learned and move forward.

Nothing is more demoralizing and crippling than having to be around a negative and critical person: don’t be that person – and ask someone to pinch you if you backslide.
