- Proverbs 16:9 (NLT) We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.
Give up the illusion of developing a master plan for your life; there are too many uncertainties and unknowns. However, living in a fog is not the answer either.
How do you find the balance between the illusion of micro-managing your life and the nightmare of being like a piece of driftwood floating along with whatever tide that happens to be coming in at the moment?
I suggest you change the word “plan” and substitute “adjust”.
Once you are clear on the direction you want to go (see yesterday’s blog) then daily adjustments (planning) will keep you on track.
Whether it’s a budget, a calendar, a career and especially a relationship – there are too many things beyond your control to try to set in stone a master plan; but you can prayerfully seek God’s direction in each of these areas and then make adjustments along the way.
In the long run you will save yourself a lot of useless planning and a lot of useless wandering around in a fog.
