- Leviticus 19:18 (NKJV) You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.
OK, it’s Friday and you’ve got a week’s worth (maybe more) of frustration built up. My advice: Let it go.
Vengeance, retribution, justice: These are all good concepts but we humans aren’t able to handle them well; better to let God handle the heavy responsibility of meting these heavy responsibilities.
You’d be better served to write off the frustration and anger that’s built up this week because of people’s meanness, sloppiness, and sinfulness as part of the price of living, loving and working in a sin-cursed world.
Write it off, give grace and let God work out all that “heavy stuff” like vengeance, retribution and justice and…
…you just enjoy your weekend.
19 Dear friends, never take revenge.
Leave that to the righteous anger of God.
For the Scriptures say,
“I will take revenge;
I will pay them back,”
says the Lord.
