- Jeremiah 36:1-3 (NKJV) Now it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, that this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: 2 “Take a scroll of a book and write on it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel, against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah even to this day.
- 3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the adversities which I purpose to bring upon them, that everyone may turn from his evil way, that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.”
Three words captured my heart today – “It may be…”
Oh the joy of knowing that God refuses to lose hope in you and me.
We often hear of the end of time: the final apocalyptic event when God will bring an end to all the evil and sinful rebellion in this world. However, I truly believe that on the eve of the final day just before the end comes, the love of God will still be calling, pleading for lost men and women to turn from their evil ways and come to Him. He will still be saying, “It may be that someone comes to me at the midnight hour.”
And if God never loses hope, why should you?
Don’t give up on anybody. It may be that just before their heart beats for the last time they cry out to God and are saved.
Don’t give up in the darkest hour. It may be that just in the nick of time the light will break through and a new day will dawn.
And whatever you do – don’t give up on our “It-may-be” God.
