- Joshua 6:25 (NKJV) And Joshua spared Rahab the harlot, her father’s household, and all that she had. So she dwells in Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
In my devotions recently I read about Rahab (Joshua 2, 6). She was the woman from Jericho that sold her king and city down the creek in order to save her own skin and the lives of her family.
We think of her as a hero (and she was). But one thing that came to mind during my reflections was that to her king and fellow citizens, she was a traitor that sold them out. She was willing to sacrifice the lives of her friends, customers, neighbors, and the entire kingdom in order to save her own life and the lives of her family.
Unfortunately, I often see just the opposite. Far too often people are willing to sacrifice their health and future for success and pleasure today. In the same way far too often people are willing to sacrifice their family and faith in order to achieve “success”.
What about you? What are you willing to sacrifice in order to make heaven your home? What are you willing to sacrifice to save your family from the wrath to come and increase the odds that they will enter Heaven with you?
These are questions that deserve an answer.
