- Psalm 66:17 (NKJV) I cried to Him with my mouth and He was extolled with my tongue.
Words matter.
Words capture things.
For example, when you record in your journal a joyful event it is like a snapshot; freezing for years to come that moment in time. And every time you read that page the experience of the event – like the smell of cinnamon taking you home for Christmas – will come back to you and bring you joy.
Words strengthen things.
For example your relationship with someone you love can become worn and thin. But the moment you begin to express heartfelt words of affection, appreciation and affirmation – like splashes of fresh vivid paint – your love leaps off the page and becomes robust again.
Unfortunately, unexpressed words are like stillborn possibilities – things that were conceived in your mind but because they were never spoken, they were never born.
In your efforts to not say the wrong things don’t overcompensate by not saying the right things. (Read that line again.)
Whether spoken to God or man; words matter.
Just as God spoke our universe into existence, so you too must speak before some things will ever happen.
